In historic showdown Nepal takes on arch rivals UAE in T20 series

International cricket  has returned to Kathmandu in a big way.Since the announcement by  Cricket Association of Nepal  that it is hosting the Twenty20 and Cricket World Cup League2,  it has evoked  intense excitement in fans as they eagerly anticipate the sporting spectacle.


Unquestionably, it  will be a  cricket feast for fans as they get to see the action packed T20 series, followed by two  rounds of ICC  Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 against different opponents.


The men’s national cricket team of Nepal is all set to play in the Twenty20 international cricket tournament series starting on April 20 , 2026.


Team Nepal faces arch rivals the United Arab Emirates in a series of this kind for the first time.


The series will  be held at the renovated Tribhuvan University International  cricket ground in Kirtipur for the first time under floodlights.


Not forgetting that both teams had featured in the concluded T20 World Cup tournament held in India and Sri Lanka early this year.

 

The clash between the close rivals  has been generating a lot of buzz and excitement in enthusiastic  cricket aficionados who are keenly looking forward to the start of the series.


With the craze and popularity of cricket on the rise in the country, the series provides a perfect recipe to sports goers.


On top of that with the competition being played under floodlights for the first time in the history of Nepal cricket  fans excitement is at an all time high.


Nepal has been showing lots of promise when it comes to their performance and progress in international competitions lately.


They have managed to win the hearts and minds of cricket buffs across the globe.Already they have earned the  status of  fast emerging force in world cricket.They are gradually working their way to catch up with the  leading  teams in world cricket.


Comparatively they have been performing  better and delivering results in the I20 format than ODI( 50overs).


The series against the UAE is another big opportunity  for them to further  prove and assert themselves as the rising force in world cricket.


Nepali cricketers have been on their toes playing domestic and international tournaments this year  to date .


Having played in the recently concluded domestic championship  Prime Minister Cup,the selected players are expected  to be in good form .They will be back in action  in the T20 series and the World Cup League 2.


Home fans' expectations are very high for the team.They strongly feel they stand a good chance to win the series based on players' potential and experience,coupled with home advantage.


The newly appointed skipper Dipendra Singh Aireee spearheads a side studded with experienced and promising upcoming players. 


Prominent names missing in the squad are experienced Rohit Paudel, Karan KC and Sompal Kami.


The 2 match T20 series is expected to be a close contest between the two with no clear favorites.


Apparently, Team Nepal goes into  the series with the home field advantage. In order to come up trumps against the seasoned opposition  they have to fully materialize the  advantage.


They have  to perform  consistently, confidently and to their  strengths on all fronts of the game,and  take their performance to the next level to ensure success for themselves.They cannot afford to deliver an insipid performance or falter.

Nepal’s valiant effort against Scotland fall short by a whisker

  Nepal’s quest for a third successive victory over hosts Scotland in the  ICC  men’s Cricket World Cup League 2  fell short by a whisker in Dundee,Scotland. Chasing a record  total of 324 runs,Nepal was on the cusp of a remarkable victory needing seven runs in the last over. Experienced pacer Safyaan Sharif bowling the last over  saved the day for  Scotland by taking the last two wickets including the  wicket of dangerous Karan  KC when it mattered most. The third edition of Nepal Super League, unarguably,the country’s biggest and most prestigious domestic football tournament concluded in Kathmandu recently.
