Team Nepal geared up for historical ODI challenge

The much -anticipated Triangular Twenty20  series featuring MMC, the Netherlands and Nepal came to a disappointing end at Lord’s cricket ground in England. Heavy rain played havoc with the series  ruining a day of absorbing and exciting cricket. The umpires called off the  finale between the Netherlands and Nepal following a heavy downpour,much to the chagrin of Nepali fans who turned up in big numbers. Although the result of the match was inconclusive,both the Netherlands  and Nepal were declared joint winners of the Triangular series. In fact, the rain also  affected the two matches played early on the day. The rain delayed matches had been reduced to six overs. In both matches, MCC lost to the Netherlands and Nepal. Nepali bowlers did well to restrict the opposition to under 40 runs. Team Nepal needs strong batting

Following a very short lull, the national cricket team of Nepal is back in action. They have a frenetic and hectic schedule in front of them. Currently,the team is in England for the 20 over triangular. Then they proceed to the Netherlands to make their international debut in the one day 50-Over format against the Netherlands,playing  two matches In the last week of August they depart to Malaysia to participate in the Asia Cup Qualifiers. Undoubtedly,they have  an exhausting and challenging task at hand.True test awaits them,  and it would be interesting to see how well they stand up to the pressure and challenge. They will have to show great  character, coupled with mental strength and physical fitness  to get the desired result. Skipper Paras Khadka  spearheads a team with a blend of both experience and youth,and it is dominated by all -rounders. World Cup delivered on its promise

The month long world’s greatest,biggest and most intriguing sporting spectacle, the World Cup football tournament, finally concluded in Russia with France coming out triumphant. Congratulations France for the success. Having lost to Portugal in the final of the last European Championship, this time the French  made sure they did not have to live with another disappointment. France,one  of the firm favourites going into the championship ended Croatia’s dream run and hopes of becoming the smallest nation ever  to win the World Cup. The young French side sealed victory in the second half after finding the net three times,eventually wrapping up the high scoring final 4-2. It was a story of so close yet so far for Croatia, the dark horse of the tournament.
