“National League”- ANFA’s biggest failing

It is long overdue. By now a full-fledged National   Football League should have been in place, running full swing in the country. Instead   we are still waiting for this to happen. At the same time, we have to ask ourselves will it ever happen. Leave alone running the National Football League (NFL), All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) led by Ganesh Thapa has turned   a blind eye to the most important domestic competition for well over two decades. Yet no one has questioned this? It’s simply ridiculous and unbelievable. These are the same   people, don’t forget,   who shamelessly keep pounding their chests claiming they have done so much for Nepal football.  The failure   to organize the NFL   is one of the biggest   failings   of   the football body in the last 21 years. How could they be   so uninterested and ignore   the importance of NFL   that   goes to the heart of   the development of local players for so long.    In my opinion, either ANFA is total

Nepal cricket needs more than just Prime Minister's congratulatory message

Looking at the sport budget allocated by the government for the new fiscal year, cricket benefitted the most. A significant chunk of the budget has gone to   cricket and   not football for the first time. Does this surprise   you   ?   I reckon   this is a big surprise to most sports aficionados in the country. The decision to invest more money in cricket is encouraging, heartening and should be viewed positively. The government has finally   acted   sensibly; however, it is   only a small drop in the ocean. They must play a bigger, more vigorous, important, substantial role in cricket development at both national, international levels. In fact, all these years, despite the national and youth teams’ strong performance on the field, cricket has never got the kind of attention it   deserved in terms of fund, support from the government. Nepal cricket   has   been   around   for a fairly long time; however, the present state of the game remains depressing

Ganesh Thapa ups the ante against critics, opposition

It is crystal   clear President of All Nepal Football Association Ganesh Thapa won’t back down by any stretch of the imagination. Mr.Thapa intentions are blatantly clear. He has no shame whatsoever and will do whatever it takes to defend himself and his administration against critics and opponents. His recent actions speak a lot louder than words. He has not changed his attitude, approach, and mind-set a bit. He continues to be arrogant, stubborn, dictatorial and unprofessional. There are no words   such as   accountability, compromise, negotiation, respect, truthfulness and honesty in his dictionary. He is on the offensive, aggressively pouncing on critics, media, detractors, clubs, and the government, as well. He is back to his old ways, challenging, intimidating those not   agreeing with him. His ploys to silence and suppress cynics and dissenting voices are not new. Whenever he feels seriously threatened, we have seen him rely on the time-tested meth
