Nepal underdogs against Philippines

As the national   football team of Nepal  gears up for the away match against Philippines in the 2019 Asian Cup Group F qualifiers in Manila, Philippines, they will hope to pick up where they left last year. It maybe recalled that the 2016 season was quite a  success for Nepal football  strictly in terms of outcome. We witnessed unexpected success  achieved by local football clubs and national teams in international tournaments. Everybody knows that they earned it the hard way. The success of the teams breathed some life and optimism into  Nepali football that has remained stagnant for far too long. All the credit goes to the players. The success largely resulted from a culmination of talent, hard work, dogged determination and fighting spirit. Remember,  the national team   had gone over two decades   without   a major championship title and the drought finally ended when they beat India in the final of the South Asian Federation Games in Assam, India. MMC roaster needs shake up

I know I am late in writing  about Manang Marshyangdi Club’s  performance in the 2nd Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup  Championship in Chittagong,Bangladesh.Bear with me. We already know Manang Marshyangdi Club’s (MMC)  run of championship titles abruptly ended after going down to TC Sports  Club Maldives, the eventual winners. They had the lion’s share of ball possession, created a host of scoring chances but failed to cash in.They only have themselves to blame. They  were guilty of letting the opponent hang around the game a little to

Nepal must capitalize on home advantage to defeat Kenya

Come Saturday, there will be plenty of familiar sights and sounds  at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket ground in Kirtipur as local cricket aficionados gear up for the vital  Nepal vs  Kenya clash in the   50- over ICC World Cup League Championship. The two -match series holds tremendous significance for both sides. They  are  still in the danger zone and desperately fighting each other  to secure a  spot in the final round. Currently Kenya and Nepal are fifth and sixth respectively  in the eight team league table standings. With the top four teams advancing to the last round, there is plenty at stakes for both teams. Last year in the same competition before Nepal played Namibia at home, they were in a hopeless position and faced  two must win games to keep their slim hopes alive. Much to everyone's relief, the home side put together  a big performance to win both  matches. Later that  year they stunned the undefeated Dutch side in the Netherlands to split
