SAF Football: Nepal must seize the moment to dazzle

With the South Asian Federation Games in Guwahati, India close on the heels, Nepal looking to turn things around in football face yet another daunting challenge. Just like always, the big question is, will Nepal live up to expectations? This time around, however, the mood in Nepal camp is very different. There is great optimism, confidence, positivity, buoyancy, stubbornness and expectancy in the team, like never seen before. The players are bubbling with confidence and raring to go. This is a very encouraging sign. The Bangabandhu Gold Cup success could not have come at a better time and has provided them a shot in the arm they needed. Nepal must come out all guns blazing against Bangladesh

The highly anticipated clash between Nepal and India in the ICC Under-19 World Cup Cricket tournament in Bangladesh proved to be a bit of an anti-climax at the end. For die-hard fans like me it was quite a disappointment to see Nepal succumb to a crashing seven-wicket loss. Without a shred of doubt, India comprehensibly outplayed Nepal in every department of the game. The victory they achieved with ease was/is the mark of a truly dominant performance. Skipper Raju Rijal, took the harsh defeat sportingly and with grace, and rightly so. He acknowledged losing to a superior opponent and emphasized the importance of learning lessons from defeat. I hope they do so.
