MMC must put pieces together to beat Maldives outfit

A stroke of luck and bylaws of the tournament helped Manang Marshyangdi Club reach the semi-final of the Sheikh Kamal International Club football championship in Chittagong, Bangladesh. Mohammedan Sporting Club(MSC) did a huge favour to  Manang. Marshyangdi Club (MMC) by getting the better of Shaheen Asmayee FC in the decisive final game of the group. The 2-1 victory registered by MSC over Shaheen Asmayee FC put MMC in the last four. All that was needed by the  Afghan Club was a  draw or win for   a semi-final spot.. Likewise, even a 3-1 victory could not have helped MSC’s  cause because of the competition bylaws in place. Had they not made it to the semi-final,MMC would have rued their missed chances and had only to  blame themselves. In the vital clash against defending champions Chittagong Abahani Limited  they squandered  a 2-0 lead and barely managed  to salvage a draw at the end. Their fate largely hinged on the outcome of the final group clash between  the Dhaka

MMC need big performance against Chittagong Abahani

Manang Marshyangdi Club find themselves in a spot of bother following their surprise defeat at the hands of unfancied Shaheen Asmayee FC in the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup tournament in Chittagong,Bangladesh. In a must win game the champion club  of Afghanistan not only  stunned Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) 3-1  but kept their hopes alive for a semi-final spot. Afghan striker and skipper of the team Amiruddin Sharifi stole the limelight  scoring  a superb hattrick, the first of the competition to put the game  beyond the reach of heavily favored MMC. After the lacklustre performance  against  Chittagong Abahani in the opener, the result came  as a surprise to everyone.Nobody expected it. The Afghan side did remarkably well to regroup and bounce back with a well deserved victory over MMC. They played aggressively throughout and made the most of their chances. Shaheen Asmayee FC’s win and Mohammedan Sporting Club’s drawn encounter with Chittagong Abahani has thrown

MMC must build momentum early on against Afghan outfit

Going by their current  form and performance,  star -studded Manang Marshyangdi Club rightfully  deserved to  represent Nepal at  the  second edition of the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup Football taking place  in  Chittagong, Bangladesh. Having dominated the domestic front, the champion club of Kathmandu enter the competition with high hopes and expectations. They are riding high with  a three -championship winning streak. They have the momentum and experience  on their side and holds the key to their success. More important, they must use it to its full extent  to extend their winning performance in the Bangladesh tourney. That said, Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC),however, are in a different ball game and are up against  formidable opponents. No doubt, the competition is tough, and they will have to be at their very best and display  the ability to produce desired results when needed most. They must step up the ante and play consistently and show appetite for success

ANFA sleeping behind the wheel

While All Nepal Football Association is fast asleep behind the wheel, there is no stopping to hard core football enthusiasts when it comes to promoting football across the country in their own ways. Without a doubt, the football community’s  commitment, involvement  and support has been one of the keys for the surging popularity of domestic football over the years. Thanks largely to their endeavor, we are  witnessing a dramatic surge of  football activities and competitions in the country as we speak. On the other hand, much to our dismay the passivity on part of All  Nepal Football Association (ANFA) remains a major deterrent to the development of football. Besides, it continues to be a big source of concern and frustration for those who care a great  deal about Nepali football. As a result , the sport  has been stagnant for far too long . There are no indications that the newly elected ANFA President Narendra Shrestha would  bring about positive change. Almost four mo
