Not surprisingly, he has become   a darling   sort of figure for the    news media. The kind   of attention   he has generated and attracted, no doubt, is phenomenal and makes me truly believe that he is one of the most talked about   and sought after athletes in the country, at the moment. He is not even half way through his   triumphant career but   already his accomplishments   outdo his six feet plus towering   frame. The twenty-five year old   resident of Kathmandu has in a way transfixed and galvanized the media world by his sheer cricketing brilliance, genius and prowess. No wonder he is so popular with   the media people and gets so much attention. By virtue of   tireless work and persistent   ambition, young   Khadka   has plodded

Footballer Bimal Gharti Magar : The New kid on the block

Upcoming   Bimal Gharti Magar is an extremely gifted footballer from Butaha in Nawalparasi district, West Nepal. There   is a   general consensus among coaches, fans and sport writers that the highly touted youngster has    superstar qualities. At the age of   15,   he   made his international   debut   against Bangladesh in a friendly international, thus becoming the  country’s  youngest footballer ever   to play for the   senior national team. Former   national coach Krishna   Thapa   is all praise for the   youngster. He is very convinced   that he has the talent to become a future   star. Under - 14 coach   Sunil Shrestha     has trained   Magar and knows him better than anyone else.  He agrees one hundred   percent with Thapa. “He is a very bright prospect and   I am looking forward to seeing him reach   his full potential,” says Shrestha .  Magar   spearheads   the new generation of    exciting and promising Nepali footballers. Good positioning, heading,   powerful shots and passing are some of his   strengths. Having already made 43 international appearances, the youngster   is the   epitome of calm, cool and collected.  Today he stands    a much more matured, composed player and   is always a joy to watch him play. Speaking of scoring goals, he is not very far behind. He   has three   and   sixteen   goals in international and domestic tournaments respectively to his credit. He is confident, steady and rock solid when it comes to defending   the   citadel.  And it   is   no   wonder; he is the true   heart and soul of the team’s defense. His   biggest attribute is his versatility and astuteness. Former national   coach of Nepal Graham Roberts described him   as   being   a brilliant and intelligent   defende

Time to bring in new players

We   hear   a   whole lot of conversation   and chatter   about Nepali football nowadays. Some are meaningful, whereas   others   are more uncertain and speculative. It seems the conversation never ends.  There is no reason why football goers should   refrain   from talking about the game they love so much. They have   every   right to express freely their opinions and views. Whether their opinions   matter   or make sense,   let   readers   judge and decide themselves.  I will say this   though, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) don’t care what people say. Everyone agrees on one thing, no matter how you feel or view about this issue, football is not heading in the right direction.  As a   matter of fact   I have highlighted this   fact umpteenth time.   Obviously, the   discussion   is   centered on the national football squad and the upcoming   South Asian Football Federation Championship (SAFFC) taking place in Kathmandu in   September.
