Nepal football conundrum continues

At the moment, I have nothing much to write about Nepal football, which may make fans feel happy, excited and optimistic. The sad part is, the scenario remains murky, uncertain and questionable, and there is no indication that will change anytime soon. I do not need to go into detail to explain the situation that is going from bad to worse with every passing day. Football enthusiasts are sick and tired over the way ANFA is being run. The readers are smart, intelligent enough to know that what ails football in Nepal and who is to blame for it. I cannot help but repeat myself. Therefore, excuse me for being repetitive. No one would dispute the fact that Nepal Football conundrum continues unabated.   That is what it is. For well over two decades, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) headed by Mr. Ganesh Thapa has been all about rampant corruption, maladministration, mismanagement and non-transparency. They have totally failed to deliver when it comes to overall football

Nepal must display knack for rebounding from failure

The whipping Nepal took at the 2015 ICC Twenty/20 World Cup Qualifiers in Belfast, Ireland was unexpected and beyond imagination. Nothing went right for Nepal. The competition was a fiasco in terms of performance and result. They were battered, outplayed and failed dismally. There is absolutely no excuse for the poor result. Without any iota of doubt, the team’s performance was sub-par, and no wonder they eventually paid a heavy price for their failure. Furthermore, adding fuel to the fire, Mumbai-based physiotherapist Dr. Bashir Ashai, working with the team was arrested for sexual assault and later Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) did the right thing by terminating his contract. Team Nepal entered the fray with high hopes and confidence and was touted as one of the hot contenders. However, they turned out to be merely a pale shadow of the team that performed so strongly in the final round of the 2014 edition in Bangladesh. Shockingly, unlike past, the team d

Batting failure dooms Nepal

With three successive defeats Nepal's   extraordinary slump in the ICC World Twenty/20 Qualifiers in Belfast, Ireland has come to a disastrous end. It is end of the road for Nepal, following their latest loss to Papua New Guinea and Jersey. Obviously, batting woes spelt the death knell for the side that carried high hopes going into the competition. They needed a stable and very strong batting performance, coupled with a concerted effort of the entire team to stand any chance of making it to the final round, but it never materialized. Nepal did get off to a perfect start but failed miserably to capitalize on the good start. No wonder, they found themselves in a deep sink, they dug for themselves and were unable to pull themselves out, thus ending a very frustrating, unproductive campaign. Batting woes cripples Nepal

With two successive defeats Nepal is teetering on the brink of completing a disastrous ICC World Twenty/20 Qualifiers in Belfast, Ireland. A loss against Papua New Guinea, which upset Ireland means end of the road for Nepal. Obviously, unless they overcome batting woes, I cannot see how they can win. The bottom line is: They need to put in a very strong batting performance, coupled with a concerted effort of the entire team to stand any chance of escaping defeat. Nepal did get off to a perfect start but has failed miserably to capitalize on the good start. No wonder, they find themselves in a deep hole. But whether they can pull themselves out of the hole they dug for themselves is yet to seen. VS USA Overcoming a run of poor form, coupled with physical exhaustion and mental fatigue, Team Nepal basked in glory at the expense of the United States of America. We could not have asked for a better result. The six-wicket win does appear pretty convincing and i
