Team Nepal makes clean sweep to come up trumps

 

The men’s national cricket team of Nepal put together a spectacular winning performance in the

2025 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier held in Oman recently.

Living up to expectations and rising to the occasion,the Nepali outfit was at the top of their

game throughout the competition ,excelling in every aspect of the game. In fact, they exceeded

expectations and performed way better than what was expected of them.

In an impressive display of confidence, consistency,determination,collective effort and

individual brilliance,they delivered the goods and handled pressure perfectly to emerge

victorious and remain undefeated.More importantly,their performance has improved by leaps

and bounds.

At stake were three berths in the Super Six Stage for the final round of the competition.

Considering Nepal,United Arab Emirates and Oman’s strengths and international records they

were overwhelming favorites to advance to the final round of the competition.

As predicted Nepal,they qualified for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup being jointly hosted by

India and Sri Lanka.

They entered the competition, following their historical T20 series win against the West

Indies.The success bolstered their self-confidence and provided them crucial momentum,which

they effectively cashed in on to achieve success.

Coming back to Nepal’s  performance, they left no stones unturned in their efforts to turn the

tides in their favor and come out triumphant in an impressive manner.

They were resilient,committed and mentally prepared for the challenge and held their ground

firmly under pressure.

The batters demonstrated encouraging and marked improvement in their

performance.Consistent batting played a big part in the success of the team.

As usual the bowlers were in their own element and came out with all guns blazing .They

contributed significantly, assuring and putting themselves in a win-win situation.

Another important factor that made a big difference in Team Nepal’s winning performance was

their fielding.

Compared to previous years,the fielding was much better and clinical.Consequently,the

opposition batters were kept on the defensive side for the most part.They were involved in nerve wracking matches 

against the United Arab Emirates andQatar.They held their composure and nerves to squeak by at the end.

Under the spotlight were a few outstanding individual performances. Star spinner Lamichhane

once again proved his utility,topping the bowling honors. He ended the competition claiming 12

wickets.

On the batting front all rounder Kushal Bhurtel was the most dominant batter. He amassed

207 to top the batting.Experienced duo all rounder Dipendra Singh Airee and wicket keeper Aasif Sheikh

consistently batted well to anchor the innings . Likewise , upcoming pacer Gulshan Jha

continued to impress with both the bat and ball.

Given the recent performances, Team Nepal is cruising towards the right direction. It is

imperative that they continue to commit themselves,play to their potential and work on their

weaknesses going forward.

Next up for Team Nepal is the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League tri-series challenge

against the United States and the United Arab Emirates starting on October 26th in Dubai,

United Arab Emirates.

Currently the Nepali outfit is second from the bottom in the group . They are in a must win all

matches situation in order to move up the table standings and put themselves in the fray for

the qualification spot.

As I write, contrary to expectations, Nepal got off to a crushing defeat in the hands of the United

States. Obviously,they cannot afford to concede the remaining three upcoming matches if they
