The riveting and gripping 2025 Nepal Premier League Twenty20 cricket championship that captivated and galvanized  cricket aficionados across  the country and world from start to finish concluded in Kathmandu recently. The tournament organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal(CAN) was a colossal success on all fronts.They deserve a round of applause for smoothly managing and organizing the event. More importantly, it was free of controversies,including spot- fixing and match-fixing like in the past,on and off the field.  As reported prior to the start of  this year’s  Nepal Premier League, attempts were made by an organized racket to lure players into match fixing.Fortunately for Nepal cricket it did not materialize this time around. South Asian Women’s Club football championship: Watershed event

The ongoing first ever South Asian Football  Federation Women’s Club championship in Kathmandu is  a watershed event in the  history of  women’s football in South Asia. Indeed, it is a privilege for Nepal  to host the inaugural edition.The tournament is organized by the South Asian Football Federation ( SAFF)  and managed by the All Nepal Football Association(ANFA). At long last the highly anticipated tournament is now a reality as it  has kicked off,generating lots of excitement and buzz.  As a matter of fact, the start of the championship caught sports enthusiasts  by complete  surprise.  Given limited  media publicity the tournament  received they did not expect it to happen this soon.Nonetheless, they are buoyant,excited and thrilled about the event. The  current state of Nepal football is far from  desired and  continues to slide downhill,creating an air of concern and uncertainty. It is not an overstatement to say that football  in the country is  facing a crisis and  long term challenges. As  things stand,a  big question mark hangs over the future of football in the country. The  recent  sudden resignation of Australian head coach of the national team Matt Ross raised many eyebrows and questions.In other words,the resignation speaks for itself . Unhappy and frustrated over  the  unconducive environment,the way All Nepal Football Association (ANFA)  functioned and  things moved on and off the field,he was unable to fulfill his duties as he wanted.  With no indication of the situation  improving,he could not take it anymore and ultimately resigned barely eight months into his one year contract.
